Biography

After earning her bachelor’s in elementary education from Baylor University, Kelly Broaddus taught middle school language arts for 15 years before transitioning to the role of elementary director at a local independent school. She joined Holy Spirit as the library media specialist in 2019 and as the head of the Lower School in 2021. Over more than 20 years in education, Mrs. Broaddus has completed hundreds of hours of professional development training, submitted national and regional Gold Key winners to the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, presented at conferences, sponsored student clubs, led educational trips, and served as a department chair multiple times. Caring, hardworking, and thoughtful, she strives to facilitate a Lower School environment filled with warmth, joy, and hands-on learning opportunities. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family, watching her daughter and son play sports, and attending Astros baseball and Baylor football and basketball games. Other hobbies include reading, watching movies, cooking, baking, and traveling. Actively involved in the community, Mrs. Broaddus volunteers with her church, contributes toward overseas mission efforts, and supports the work of organizations that encourage children to read.
