Position Title: Spanish Teacher
Work Hours: 7:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m.
Work Calendar: School Year (Blackout dates may apply)

The Spanish Teacher fosters language learning and cultural awareness among students from Pre-K through middle school. This teacher creates engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons that build Spanish vocabulary, conversation skills, and cultural understanding through interactive strategies such as music, art, and storytelling. Rooted in best practices across all grade levels, this position nurtures curiosity, confidence, and a love of language in every learner while supporting the school’s mission and values.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements engaging, developmentally appropriate Spanish lessons that are hands-on and engaging.
  • Possesses the skills and passion to provide engaging Spanish instruction for students.
  • Differentiates instruction to support a range of learning styles and developmental needs.
  • Is proficient with technology and demonstrates a willingness to further develop technological skills, incorporating age-appropriate technology into classroom lessons when appropriate.
  • Has strong classroom management skills to provide a supportive, orderly, and interactive classroom environment where creative learning takes place.
  • Creates a nurturing, inclusive, and orderly classroom environment where students feel safe and valued.
  • Incorporates strategies to support social-emotional learning.
  • Communicates with parents, administrators, and other team members concerning the academic and emotional development of students within the classroom.
  • Maintains positive and respectful relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Participates actively in enrichment and all-school meetings.
  • Performs other tasks and duties as assigned by the Head of School and/or the supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years teaching experience as a Spanish teacher, preferably in an independent school setting.
  • Native Spanish speaker preferred
  • Teacher certification preferred
  • Proficient in technology, including knowledge of Google Suite, SMART panels, LMS and Gradebook systems, and other instructional technology tools.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to move around children and occasionally sit on the floor
  • Occasionally lift up to 30 pounds
