Nearly 20 years ago, Lisa Carlos was a stay-at-home mom looking for a job that worked with her children’s schedule. She gave substitute teaching a try, and enjoyed working as an educator so much that she accepted a full-time position at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church Children’s Place. After eight years at St. Andrews, she taught for another eight years at West U Methodist School before joining HSES’s faculty in 2018. Ms. Carlos has never stopped being amazed by how much her students grow in skills and confidence over the course of a school year. She also loves being able to express herself creatively while designing lessons and building a family-like classroom environment that is safe, fun, and silly! Ms. Carlos has completed multiple professional development trainings, and holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Sam Houston State University. In her free time, she enjoys reading, hiking, jogging, binging TV shows, and spending time with family and friends.
