When Shantell Smith was a new HSES parent, Holy Spirit’s warm faculty and welcoming campus made a huge difference for her family and infant son. Now, she loves making a difference for other HSES students as a lead teacher in Primary 3. Since 2017, her classroom has been marked by purposeful play, creativity through process art, and growth in spoken communication through story dramatization and dictation. Taken together with the love and respect she shows her students, these approaches lead to confident youngsters who are proud of themselves and their accomplishments. Mrs. Smith is trained in Rice University’s early literacy techniques, and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Baylor University. When she’s not in the classroom, she stays active with her family—doing watersports, exercising, lifting weights, and spending as much time as possible outdoors!
