Adolescence can be a difficult time for both the child and parent. Holy Spirit strives to make that stage of life as smooth as possible for both parties by offering smaller class sizes and trained professionals. Research indicates that small class sizes create the optimum learning environment for adolescents.
Holy Spirit Middle School realizes the following major educational objectives:
- to provide an academic environment in which each student's intellectual, emotional, social, aesthetic and physical growth are accompanied by a corresponding spiritual and moral growth
- to seek scholastic excellence through an emphasis on basic learning and critical thinking skills
- to nurture self-esteem and a sense of fulfillment while guiding each student into the maturity necessary to manage his or her own learning
- to cultivate in each child a sense of social and moral responsibility and genuine respect for others.
Students attend language arts, math, science, foreign language, social studies and physical education daily in Middle School. French and Spanish are the two foreign language options. In addition, fine arts and outdoor education (Project Ecolink) are an integral part of the curriculum.
Students have leadership opportunities through Student Council, National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) and Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). This wonderful combination of a nurturing, safe, caring environment and our challenging curriculum prepares our students for secondary school. Holy Spirit is proud of the fact that its Middle School students typically are accepted into their high school of choice.
