Express Yourself is the theme of the fine arts program at Holy Spirit. No matter what time of day, somewhere in our school students are expressing their creativity as artists, musicians and thespians! From Early Childhood through Middle School, artistic achievement abounds as students explore the visual and performing arts with enthusiasm.
Singing, playing musical instruments, and performing in musical/dramatic productions allow students to discover the exciting world of the performing arts. Drawing, painting, printing and constructing provide hands-on opportunities for exploring the visual arts. Active participation in these activities keeps students involved, develops problem solving and critical thinking skills, and enhances self-esteem.
Appreciation of the arts is also developed as students review artistic, musical and theatrical works, and share their thoughts and feelings with their classmates. This process cultivates respect for individualism, as well as historical and cultural understanding.
The fine arts program at Holy Spirit offers an opportunity to open exciting vistas and experience the pleasure of self-expression at a new level. Students are encouraged to put their own thoughts and feelings into their music or fine arts projects. Research shows that participation in creative expression develops highly confident and self-motivated young learners.
